My Bio
A long-time Sci-fi/Fantasy bibliophile who drives a school bus, writes both fanfiction and original work, draws with everything but oil paints *on* pretty much anything that doesn't breathe, and is extremely computer friendly. =]

I also co-run a private cat shelter, working with the Humane Society and a local vet. I adore anime, and think the little manga books are just the berries--and I dearly hope they start making them all into e-manga soon, so I can keep them with me on my Nook!

I've had a young-adult science fiction novel I've been trying to get published for ages now, but haven't had the overwhelming ambition to go all-out to catch an agent to get published.  (Still gotta work to eat, don't'cha know!)  Then I received an e-mail notification from Barnes & Noble about their newest e-book program, called "PubIt!" that lets you self-publish your own e-book.  I looked through the conditions and rules, saw my profit would be a whopping 65% of every sale instead of the expected 15% or so in print publishing, and realized I really have nothing to lose.  So, I now have a published 137,000-word e-book!  YAY!  I've posted the

Still here...

Heh.  Since my last entry was six months ago, I figured it was time to update.  =] Mom just had cataract surgery on her right eye yesterday, so I've been busy dripping eyedrops into it since two days beforehand.  It really wasn't that bad of an experience, for either of us, though she said the drops the doctor put in at the start of the proceedure did most certainly sting like the dickens!  She can see better in that eye already, even though it's still dilated a good bit.  She's getting her left eye done on July 6th, and I think both our nerves will be settled down this time. Our four acres of highly landscaped yard are coming along nicely

::eyeballs date of last journal entry::  Huh.  I really am *not* into the frequent-journal thing...!  I just don't think my everyday life is going to interest anybody but me and the people directly involved in it.  ::shrugs:: Our veterinarian surprised us when we brought her our annual batch of Christmas cookies (you simply MUST spoil a good vet with low rates, you know!!).  I have a plastic-spine binder machine, and we've done home-made calendars with touched-up photos of our cats for the last couple years as Christmas presents.  Apparently our vet has a several people who want to *buy* our cat calendars for 2010!  ::still trying to pry jaw
